Sharp tools make all the difference to turning

Had no end of trouble turning these minature plates. The porcelain is so fine that every mark shows. After turning 7 plates over 5hours tediously with a variety of blunt tools I ventured down to the hardware shop and bought an sandpaper adapter for the angle grinder and sharpened them all up.

new weapon added to arsenal

After some more trial and error I have found the best five tools to turn these plates. Sharp tools leave almost no tuning marks. The issue here is this is important as these plates are almost see thru already as they are so thin if I have to sponge wipe them to much they just snap!

Gerry suggested that if I use a steel rib as the final turn on the face of the plates then the finish will be great and less sponging required on this side.
